International Women’s Day
There are those subjects in which criticism as a literary process strives to pass by, at a sidestep. Genius among the darkness and clever among the clouds, International Women's Day is no exception. Having become an emblem since its creation, its word calls for freedom. However, his consideration is dying ; his thought frightening. Confronting it therefore seems written, not to say obligatory. Because it is the silence around its organization that disturbs... Do not question its presence; its thoughts... It's avoiding it with your eyes, acting as if nothing had happened. In short, to make it a social subject for the summer. In this context, symbolism can serve as a guide to navigate between its signs and through its symbols. Turning the table upside down rather than asking what you bring to it.
In this context, let us proceed to dissection the terms of this day. A day? The day? This is not to specify but this fact raises questions. The day raises questions since its relatively minute duration occurs as a rupture of the gendered order but therefore also as a catharsis of patriarchy; quasar of the fatherland; an almost archaic case. The international day raises the question of how to set the calendar. So that it season of the world? For what globality? In one night, it is the women who parade in Sydney. In one day, it is the women who parade in Guinea. Is March 8 doubled? Extended? Prorogued?
For the internationalization of women appears to be twofold, doubly and doubled. Doubled because the systole and diastole of the heart of feminist thought seem to be taken and taken up by an agenda where patriarchy is founded, capitalized. Prized and re-elected, the internationalization of women is a gateway to an adapted global praxis. However, it is also women who are internationalized. Torn from her uniqueness, the woman becomes La Femme and her image escapes her in a mediatized counter-offensive. On the scale of the fight being waged, with the strength of the bars put in place, the international day may seem derisory. It seems to be under attack.
The reactionary counter-offensive seems to renew the blurring between object and person. In this context, Women's Rights Day seems to be under siege. The consideration of the body as property, raises the question of its justiciability. Because like any property, it is exchanged, rented and pledged for a few dollars. Thus, the international orientation of mainstream feminism raises the question of a recuperation. Wouldn't we be heading for a Corporate Valentine's Day? Objectification is placed at the heart of the fight itself, since the fight is focused on the object. In this context, does International Women's Day become a brand? Does it carry within it the means to remain demarcated?
In any case, this is what emerges from the watermark of his exploration, but its richness may not have needed to be deployed. Maybe that's his strength in the end. The foundation of its strength and the strength of its foundations. All the strength of his persuasion. That it doesn't need an explanation? That it is so subject to the imminence of a discussion? A Face to stare at and consider. Ethics on the arm, morality on the floor. May his breaking of silence make thousands of voices be expressed; that its enunciation prevents it from silencing.
The breakup of a meagre day? Is that all? Yes. That is all. To put a stopping point, to break the monologue and the monopoly of speech. Not to explain but to no longer be explained. Faced with the balance of power, do not seek its extension, but its stop. That the cogs no longer work and that the mechanisms stop. A silence for a remedy for chaos, instead of chaos, outside chaos. Eve took Adam out of paradise, she brought him knowledge. If Adam was conscientious, Eve was his conscience.
Happy International Women's Day,
Women, lives, freedom.
